Paulownia Wood Surfboards
The perfect blend of performance, durability, and sustainability
Sustainable boards with classic surf soul and modern technology
Surfboards built with Paulownia wood represent the ideal fusion of performance, sustainability, and timeless design. This lightweight, strong, and fast-growing wood allows for durable surfboards with minimal environmental impact, while maintaining a smooth and stable feel on the wave.
At MB Surfboards, we use Paulownia laminated with epoxy resin to create iconic models such as the Longboards, Retro Twin Fin, and Mid PT, achieving a natural and elegant finish that honors classic surfing while integrating modern technology for an eco-friendly, high-performance ride.

MB Pawlonia
At MB Surfboards, we are committed to combining performance, beauty, and sustainability, and our Paulownia wood construction represents the perfect balance of all three. Paulownia is a lightweight, fast-growing, and highly renewable wood, known for its exceptional strength-to-weight ratio and natural resistance to water and salt — making it one of the most eco-friendly materials available for surfboard manufacturing.
Used in the Longboards, Retro Twin Fin, and Mid MT models, each board is hand-laminated with epoxy resin and finished with a full Paulownia wood wrap, resulting in a natural, timeless aesthetic reminiscent of the most authentic retro surfboards. Beyond its striking appearance, this construction provides excellent flex, durability, and responsiveness underfoot, offering a smooth, connected feel on the wave.
The use of Paulownia not only reduces the reliance on synthetic materials but also supports a more sustainable surf industry, where performance meets environmental responsibility. Within the MB Collection, we’ve chosen the Nose Rider as a standout model — a board that truly embodies the spirit of classic surfing, refined with modern craftsmanship and a conscious approach to the planet.
